While many people are still eagerly awaiting the big reveal of Oculus Rift at E3, its virtual reality counterpart is now set to arrive in early 2018. Some may recall that the rumored Gear VR headset was teased a few months back and has yet to actually hit retailers, but HTC unveiled the Gear VR and hinted at the device had arrived as early as September of this year. The HTC Vive joins Oculus Rift in what promises to be a very early year for tech. The HTC Vive offers a VR headset with Touch Bar that shows Rift levels, voice commands and an upcoming option for in-game music editor. The system was announced at E3 in June and appears now for the first time alongside third-party hardware too.

Along with 4K-ready TVs and low-hanging fruit like the Oculus Rift, Oculus fans should eagerly take a look at the Oculus Assistant software to receive feedback about Rift performance or what content the team’s vision is. Since its debut last year, the Assistant has been integrated into nearly every Oculus Rift-based product, including the Rift and HTC Vive.
